Overview
This is an absolute monolithic slab of doom - ‘Dopethrone’ is a suffocating, psychedelic descent into pure sonic filth. The album drops listeners into thick, fuzz-drenched riffs, slow, crushing tempos in prolonged medleys, and an atmosphere that feels like it was conjured from the depths of some smoke-filled abyss (in the coolest way). The production enhances the atmosphere and energy, giving it a grimy, oppressive charm that makes every note feel like it’s oozing from blown-out amplifiers. Vocals emerge like distant chants from the void, adding to the album’s hypnotic, almost ritualistic feel. This is Doom Metal in its most unfiltered, nihilistic form - and as self-proclaimed Black Sabbath lovers, their influence is immediately recognisable. An essential listen for those craving heaviness at its most uncompromising.
Recommended for Sabbath lovers looking for a recreation in the form of stoner Doom Metal.

It’s a hazy and heavy image that perfectly supports the vibe of the album. Although supposedly based on the character R. J. MacReady, played by Lee Van Cleef in the 1971 film ‘The Big Gundown’, all I can see is the devil smoking a pipe - and it’s cool as anything.
